The island of St. Croix is situated at latitude 17.70N and longitude 64.80W.

St. Croix, the largest of the more than fifty-some islands and cays that comprise the United States Virgin Islands, is located in the very heart of the Caribbean Sea. The Island is 1700 miles south of New York, 1100 miles south-southeast of Miami, 100 miles southeast of San Juan, Puerto Rico, and forty miles south of both St. Thomas and St. John.

The island is 22.7 miles long and is 6.6 miles at its widest point. Blue Mountain, at 1096 feet, is the highest point on the Island. The Puerto Rican Trench, arcing between the Islands of St. Croix, Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, and St. John, is one of the deepest parts of the Atlantic Ocean.

The sunny, tropical climate averages daily temperatures of 85 to 90 degrees with a comfortable range in the mid-70 degrees at night. Rainfall usually arrives in brief showers and averages around 45 inches per year. The island of St. Croix consists of differing topographical extremes. The East End, the driest part of the island, hosts cactus, yucca, scrub vegetation, gentle hills, breathtaking vistas, yachts on the horizon, the National Radio Astronomy Observatory, Point Udall (the easternmost point under the U.S. flag) and Buck Island.

Westward, as you head toward Frederiksted, the tropical vegetation begins to increase, and you find yourself passing through St. Croix's rain forest with an area of lush resorts, old plantations, and sugar-mill ruins. The coast has spectacular diving waters, beautiful beaches, and our USVI Resort.

Directions To Chenay Bay Beach Resort From Henry E. Rohlsen Airport

Upon exiting the airport turn left, staying on the left side of the road. At the stop light, turn right onto Melvin Evans Highway, (Rte. 66) stay on the left side of the road.

Pass through three traffic lights. You will pass St. Croix Alumina and Hovensa on the right. Continue traveling straight and the route number will change to Rte. 70. Travel Rte. 70 for about five minutes, until you come to the light at the bottom of the hill. Follow Rte. 70 which, turns right, you are now in Christiansted.

Travel through Christiansted, continuing straight and passing the harbor on your left. The road curves right past Fort Christiansvaern. Rte. 70 becomes Rte. 75. Continue to travel Rte. 75, and it will become Rte. 82 (East End Rd.). Rte. 82 will curve to the left and later will make a hard right. Travel 1 mile, Chenay Bay Beach Resort will be on your left.

Presently NO PASSPORT IS REQUIRED to enter St. Croix or to visit our US Virgin Island Resort.

U.S. Dollar is the legal tender - traveler's checks and foreign monies may be exchanged at any local bank.
The official language is English with many accents and dialects from around the Caribbean. Spanish, the second language, enters from Puerto Rico as well as other parts of the Caribbean.
Banking Hours: 9-2:30, M-F / ATMs in handy locations.
Store hours: 9-9:30 am until 5-6 pm, Monday-Saturday; some late hours offered downtown and at shopping centers. Please call ahead.
24-Hour Emergency Medical Service is available at the hospital on Peppertree Road, the Ingeborg Nesbitt Clinic in Frederiksted, and various local pharmacies.
Dress Code: V.I. law does not allow scanty attire in the towns. This applies to both men and women, so please leave swimsuits and short shorts for the beach of our USVI Resort.
